RWDSU members and their families from throughout the US were among the almost two million Americans who went to Washington, DC to take part in the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States.
One of those attending the ceremony was RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum who said President Obama's speech "spoke to the heart of every member of our union."
"President Obama's message was clear: it's time to pull together and build an economy that helps all Americans," he said.
"It's great that we finally have a president who cares about working people and who believes in unions," said Appelbaum.
"We in the RWDSU will do our part to help President Obama and Vice President Biden turn this country around," he said. "It's been a long time coming, but change is clearly going to come!"
