New Poll Shows Majority Support Public Option, Oppose "Cadillac Tax" (10/20/09)

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that support for a government-run health-care plan to compete with private insurers has clear majority support from the public. According to the poll, 57 percent support a "public option," a government run health insurance program that would compete with private for-profit insurance companies.

The same poll shows 61 percent oppose the idea of a so-called "Cadillac tax," which would tax the health insurance benefits of millions of Americans.
