New Contract for Tennessee Flav-O-Rich Workers (11/16/09)
Workers at Flav-O-Rich in chattanooga, Tennessee, have ratified new RWDSU contract. The three-year contract was ratified by a unanimous vote, and includes wage increases and a change in the way drivers are paid that will result in higher earning for the Local 323 members.
The workers, who deliver milk and ice cream, will now be paid on a price per case basis, replacing the old commission per item system.
“This will raise earnings for the workers at Flav-O-Rich, because pay is on a more consistent rate,” said Local 323 President Wayne Smith. All hourly employees will also see a 50 cent hourly increase.
“The Chatanooga workers are a dedicated group that was united behind the negotiating committee, and more workers signed up for the union during this latest round of negotiations," Smith added.
