RWDSU Endorses Obama during Executive Board Meeting (11/17/11)

Political Director of the Democratic National Committee Jeffrey Lerner discussed the Obama campaign.  

On November 16th, during the second day of its Executive Board Meeting, the RWDSU endorsed President Barack Obama for re-election in 2012.

“There is nothing more important for working people than re-electing President Obama. We need his leadership, and just as importantly, we need to keep the White House out of the hands of those who will attack the rights and livelihoods of working families,” RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum said.

The Board focused on the A & P bankruptcy and contract negotiations which affect thousands of UFCW members and RWDSU Local 338 and 1034 members who work at A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum’s, Food Emporium, and SuperFresh stores. UFCW Secretary-Treasurer Marc Perrone, who led the negotiations, discussed the status of A & P bankruptcy.

Political Director of the Democratic National Committee Jeffrey Lerner addressed the board, discussing the Obama campaign, strategies for the upcoming election, and the effect the outcome of the 2012 elections will have on working families. He also shed light on the anti-worker records of the leading contenders for the Republican presidential nomination.

The board reviewed ongoing and upcoming contract negotiations and organizing campaigns throughout the union.
