Bush Again Vetoes Child Health Care Program (12/13/07)

President Bush quietly vetoed the expansion of the popular State Child Health Insurance Program on Wednesday, for the second time in the last two months.

The bill would have provided $35 billion over the next five years to help an additional 4 million low-income children receive health insurance, bringing the total number of children insured under the program to 10 million.

Democratic leaders in Congress have scheduled a January 23 vote to try to override the veto.

President Bush vetoed similar legislation on October 3.
