RWDSU to Harper: It's Time For You to Go! (12/4/08)

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union is saluting efforts by pro-worker members of Canada's Parliament to oust the failed government of Conservative leader Stephen Harper.
"The fact that Harper is now looking to the British monarchy to rescue him and his reactionary cronies is a measure of his gross indifference to the will of the Canadian public," said RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum.
"It's a tribute to the Liberals, New Democrats, and Bloc Quebecois that they have put aside their differences to speak with one voice on behalf of the Canadian people. They understand, as RWDSU families do, that the Harper government is leading Canada into an economic abyss from which there is no escape," Appelbaum said,
"Harper's government is out of step, out of time and, if the Canadian people have anything to say about it, it will soon be out of power," Appelbaum added.
"Harper has proven to have absolutely no ideas to stimulate our economy, and has no ideas for helping working people in Canada," said RWDSU Northern Joint Council President Derik McArthur. "His 'wait and see' attitude for the economy will prove disastrous for workers, and this coalition of the opposition parties offers a progressive way out for Canadians."
