Hasbro Workers Ratify New Contract in Massachusetts (2/2/10)
Over 700 RWDSU Local 224 members in East Long Meadow, Massachusetts, have ratified a new three-year contract with their employer, Hasbro/Milton Bradley. After tough negotiations, the membership voted to approve a contract with annual raises and most importantly, a protected health care package.
“Management seemed determined to bring in their own medical insurance, which would have increased out-of-pocket costs for the workers at the plant,” said Local 224 President Scott Tredull. “We were adamant about keeping the plan we have, and we won a fair contract that not only keeps it but also improves wages.”
The contract also improves job-bidding procedures for members, making it easier for them to bid on new jobs while keeping their current pay rates.
The Local 224 members at Hasbro/Milton Bradley produce some of the most popular board games of all time, like Monopoly and Sorry!, and other classic toys like Play-Doh.
