Top Economists: Employee Free Choice Act Needed to Restore Balance in the Labor Market (2/25/09)
In a statement delivered today to Capitol Hill and published as a full-page advertisement published in the Washington Post, 39 of the nation's top economists, including two Nobel Prize winners, note the importance of workers' rights and the damage done to the economy as a whole due to the weakening of unions over the past few decades.
The statement concludes that passing the Employee Free Choice Act, which would increase the ability of workers to join unions without employer interference, is a critical part of rebuilding the U.S. economy.
