EFCA Passes in House - Tell Your Senators to Support Important Bill (3/2/07)

On a 241-185 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Employee Free Choice Act, making it easier for workers to join together to improve their wages, benefits and working conditions. Thirteen Republicans joined 228 Democrats in approving the Employee Free Choice Act in the House.
The bill would require employers to recognize a union if a majority of workers sign union cards. This would help workers gain a union voice without the current flawed election process, which is vulnerable to illegal but seldom-punished employer intimidation and abuses.
The legislation faces an uncertain future in the U.S. Senate, in which the Democrats hold a razor-thin majority. Write your Senators and tell them to support the Employee Free Choice Act.
