New Agreement for New Hampshire Workers Protects Health Insurance (5/30/07)

The 90 RWDSU Local 875 members who work at Owens Illinois Health Care Packing, Inc., in Nashua, New Hampshire, have ratified a new three-year agreement that guarantees wage increases and protects health insurance benefits. Under the terms of the new pact wages will rise 8 percent over the course of the contract, and the company will increase its weekly contributions to the employees' pension plan. Life insurance benefits have also been significantly improved.

"We all knew how high the stakes were concerning health insurance and our members made it clear that we were ready to do whatever it took to protect our benefits," said New England Joint Board President Brian Sabourin. "We stood our ground and we won."

The RWDSU members at the Nashua plant manufacture plastic bottles for the health care industry.
