Employee Free Choice Act Vote This Week (6/18/07)

U.S. House of Representatives has already passed the Employee Free Choice Act, which would making it easier for workers to join together to improve their wages, benefits and working conditions.
The bill would require employers to recognize a union if a majority of workers sign union cards. This would help workers gain a union voice without the current flawed election process, which is vulnerable to illegal but seldom-punished employer intimidation and abuses.
A vote on this bill is expected in the Senate this week, as early as Wed. June 20.
"For too long workers who want to join a union have been denied that right," said RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum. "This bill would go a long way toward correcting these injustices."
