NYC Mayor Bloomberg Meets With Labor at RWDSU (9/5/07)

The RWDSU hosted a meeting today at its offices where New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg spoke with the leadership of the city's unions. The meeting provided an opportunity for union leaders to speak with the mayor about members' issues and allowed the mayor to express his belief that a more cooperative relationship between the city and its unions has helped build a better New York City.
In his opening remarks at the meeting, RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum cited mayor Bloomberg's commitment to combating poverty in the city and the importance of keeping an open dialogue with the city's unions.
Randi Weingarten, president of the United Federation of Teachers, Edward J. Malloy, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, and Lillian Roberts, executive director of District Council 37, also spoke at the meeting of the mayor's understanding that the unions play a crucial role in making the city a better place.
