Niagra Fiberboard Contract Cuts Health Care Costs (12/4/07)
A new three-year agreement with Niagra Fiberboard protects and
improves the health care coverage for the RWDSU Local 139 members
employed there. Members at Niagra Fiberboard, who produce packaging
materials and laminated paper at the Lockport, New York plant, will
also see increased wages and reduced health care costs.
The monthly premiums for the members will be reduced by 38 percent, and coverage will be extended to all kids up to age 23. Previously, all children of workers were only covered until the age of 19. The costs of all wellness procedures such as mammograms and physicals are now covered 100 percent, where in the past members had to pay a co-pay for these visits.
In addition, members will see 3.25 percent wage increases in every year of the contract.
