Medical Workers Join Local 262 (12/10/07)

Dialysis technicians and secretaries at Fresenius Medical Care in Hoboken, New Jersey, have voted to join RWDSU Local 262, joining RWDSU members at two other Fresenius Medical Care facilities in the state.

The organizing campaign began when Local 262 representatives talked to members at Fresenius, including one who had previously worked at one of the other RWDSU-represented Fresenius facilities. The worker was enthusiastic about making his new workplace more like his old one, and helped spread the word about the RWDSU difference, and how much better it was to have union representation.

By the end of the day of the first union meeting, the majority of workers had signed union cards. Despite an anti-union campaign by the employer, the dialysis techs and secretaries voted overwhelmingly to join the RWDSU.
