Whitson’s workers Ratify Union Pact (3/24/10)

Local 1102 members at Whitson’s Culinary ratified a new, three year agreement.  As in most negotiations, the main focus was the cost of health benefits. Prior to this pact, most members had no coverage at all. The strong negotiating committee was able to bargain and implement a Local 1102 health plan providing all members with basic coverage, at no cost, with an option for an upgrade in benefits, with an affordable copay. 

The 180 members produce and distribute food for cafeterias and programs such as “Meals on Wheels”. In addition to the new medical coverage, this contract brings wage increases, and builds on the strong foundation of the last agreement.
