RWDSU Canada Members Back Mott's Workers (4/13/10)
RWDSU Northern Joint Council members passed a resolution at their convention in Cornwall, Ontario, this past weekend supporting RWDSU Local 220 Mott's workers who are fighting for a fair contract in Williamson, New York.
The RWDSU Northern Joint Council members pledged to "stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of RWDSU Local 220, and to support them and their families in their struggle against Motts/Dr. Pepper/Snapple."
"Mott's and their owner, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, are making plenty of money, and are using the state of the economy as an excuse to attack the wages and benefits of their employees," said RWDSU Northern Joint Council President Derik McArthur (above). "When you take on RWDSU members anywhere, you are taking on all of us!"
The company is looking to slash wages by as much as $2.50 an hour for each and every employee, and is trying to take away the workers' pension plan, despite the fact that Dr. Pepper Snapple earned $555 million in 2009 alone.
