First Contract for Teaneck NJ Employees (9/27/11)
(l to r) Local 108 Representative Jasper Parnell and Teaneck township employees Jill Graham, James Tighe, and Ken Katter.
The RWDSU Local 108 members employed by Teaneck township joined the RWDSU to win a voice at work, and improve their pay and working conditions. Now, they have ratified their first RWDSU contract. The workers are supervisory employees of Teaneck township agencies.
The new pact, ratified on August 18, raises wages retroactively for 2010 by 2.9 percent. For 2011, raises have been increased an additional 2 percent.
The contract also puts a grievance procedure in place, along with the respect on the job that comes with union membership.
“We are very happy with the outcome of our first negotiations with Teaneck township,” said supervisory employee and Local 108 member Ken Katter. “Local 108 reps were very helpful and informative and we were able to win a fair contract.”
