Health & Safety
The RWDSU and Health and Safety
The RWDSU has a long-standing commitment to eliminating unsafe and unhealthy working conditions in all RWDSU workplaces, both in the United States and Canada. Unfortunately, far too many people continue to work in hazardous environments. Each year millions of workers suffer crippling injuries, serious diseases and death as a result of working conditions. Most of these workers are employed at non-union workplaces.
The union's health and safety program provides members with a variety of services aimed at making their workplaces as safe and healthy as possible. Through the program, RWDSU locals have access to expert health and safety advice and information. The union also actively monitors and seeks to influence federal and state legislation that would effect the health and safety of workers.
Knowledge about workplace health and safety issues can be the first step in helping to create a better working conditions. Information on a wide variety of health and safety issues is made available to visitors to the RWDSU web site.
